Helping CNY Collect Food For The Food Bank Again

Food BankOnce again, it's that time of the year. Highpoint Advisors will help the Food Bank of CNY collect food for those in need this holiday season. There will be a donation bin in our office and also in our building located at:

  • 5900 North Burdick Street, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
Look in your cabinets and pantry for food items to donate. Preferred items are canned foods, pasta, peanut butter, cereal, dinner mixes, etc. Why not bring a donation with you to your review meeting with your advisor this month?...

Joelle Joins The Firm!

Joelle Perkins Joelle Perkins of Camillus joined the Highpoint Advisors team in June 2014 and serves as our Administrative and Marketing Assistant. As a member of the Highpoint Advisors team, she helps our advisors meet their commitment to an industry leading service model for our clients. As the initial point of contact for our firm, Joelle is a key to making sure that our clients and partners have access to all that we have to offer in a timely and efficient manner. Joelle is an integral part of many of our activities including client event planning, marketing campaigns, scheduling, collateral design, and administrative tasks. Shred Event #2

Met Life
Due to many requests from our friends and clients, Highpoint Advisors hosted the 2nd Shred Event here in our office. We brought in the 4 ton shred truck from Shred Solvers again, had the event catered by Moe's Southwest Grill, as well as got to listen to our friend Mark Comstock from Metlife talk about the current financial environment we're experiencing. We all had a great time eating and talking with each other, and got to properly dispose of some of our old files in the process.Thank you to all those who came out to spend some time with us! Syracuse Heart Walk 2014

Syracuse Heart Walk 2014 For the second year, the Highpoint Advisors team came out to support (and walk) in the Syracuse Heart Walk at SRC Arena in Syracuse. We are not only a donor to the American Heart Association, but also participate in this huge annual event. One of our own, Pat Newton, is a volunteer and team captain every year. Financial Foundations for Seniors

Institute for Care givers
Financial Knowledge Institute gave a free presentation as part of a series titled “Institute for Caregivers: Free Classes for Family Caregivers.” Held at the Manlius Library Community Room, this series is part of the Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth.Our presentation was called "Financial Foundations" and was an introduction to the basics of financial planning. We covered some of the important financial topics that some families struggle with, and outlined some easy to follow steps to improved financial health. Areas covered include Health Insurance/Medicare, investing, long term care planning, retirement income, etc. We had many great questions from the audience and hope to do this again soon!...

Financial Knowledge Institute goes to NYC! The National Student Initiative held their Next Generation Finance Summit in NYC and asked our non-profit arm, Financial Knowledge Institute, to be part of a small group of firms charged with exploring various topics relating to financial literacy. We were speakers alongside other professionals, business owners and entrepreneurs that spoke at this summit about the many financial challenges facing students and young professionals today.Topics covered included debt, education, motivation, entrepreneurship, funding, and many others. Financial literacy is something we are passionate about, so we are happy to participate in an event like this one. We are also very pleased to learn that this Initiative is coming to Central New York, and we plan to be a part of it!...
