COMMENCEMENT (GRADUATION) GUIDELINES

Commencement Location: William Paterson University (WPU) : 300 Pompton Road, Wayne, NJ 07470

Cost: $100.00 per graduate  (Includes cap and gown and 3 tickets)

All Programs(DMS,MA, CVT and DH) except Nursing students pay here $100.00 Grad Fee:

Nursing Students Pinning for $35.00

Additional Tickets for $10.00: Once the final number of attendees for graduation is accounted for through the RSVP date, an email will go out to those that RSVP’d and a lottery will be drawn for those that can purchase additional tickets at $10.00 a ticket. At present, there are 75 additional tickets.

Vocabulary:

GRADUATION: This demonstrates that you have completed all degree requirements; recorder in your official college transcripts.

COMMENCEMENT: This is the celebration and participation in the commencement ceremony does not imply that you have officially graduated.

COMMENCEMENT (GRADUATION) POLICY / GUIDELINES:

We are looking forward to celebrating you and your accomplishments here at Eastern International College! Our goal is to ensure that our commencement ceremony provides our graduates and their families, distinguished guests, faculty, and administrators with a phenomenal experience to capture the excitement and lifetime memories for this special occasion. Therefore, your help, cooperation, and adherence to all Commencement Policies/Guidelines is needed.

INFORMATION FOR GRADUATION ELIGIBILITY:

  • Contact your academic advisors, department chairs, and/or the Office of the Registrar.
  • General Questions for any additional graduation concerns should be directed to Graduation@eicollege.edu, so we may assist you. Please put “Graduation Question” in the subject line.

REGALIA (CAPS & GOWNS):

  • All graduates are required to wear academic regalia.
  • Regalia Confirmation Process: You will be contacted by Student Services for our attendance in graduation and then you will submit your payment to the Office of the Registrar to confirm your “Cap & Gown” package.
  • You will complete a form indicating your weight and height and MUST return the form to the Office of the Registrar, immediately, to gain your information for sizing accommodations.
  • Those graduating in August 2018 will need to complete a waiver.
  • All students will be asked to complete a waiver to provide information for LifeTouch, to provide you the opportunity to purchase the photos that they take of you during the pinnings and conferral of diplomas.

GRADUATION POLICIES:

  1. Alcohol and outside food are prohibited at WPU. Water will be provided.
  2. Guests should stand during the entrance and exit processions, as well as during the national anthem; please remain seated throughout the rest of the ceremony.
  3. Please be considerate of other guests and respectful of proceedings when using photography. Graduates are not obligated to take or have photographs taken.
  4. All students & guests will be required to check in. Guests will need to present a ticket for entry.
  5. Guests will be ushered to 2nd floor to their seats. (Elevator accommodations are available.)
  6. All graduates are required to wear academic regalia.
  7. After graduates check in at WPU, they will report to the conference room.
  8. Commencement procession begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. and each guest group will be ushered to assigned seating area.
  9. Candidates will be directed by faculty to the graduation stage to receive their pins and diplomas.
  10. After receipt of your pin/diploma, remain in line and you have the option to have your photo taken. You are not required to purchase, but do have the option if you like the photos.
  11. Graduates are then to return to assigned seats (in the same order they approached stage), until all diplomas are presented. Please remain seated until directed by faculty for the exit procession, to ensure we are providing courtesy and respect to our fellow graduating peers.
  12. During exit procession, continue in straight line and follow usher’s guidance from grand ballroom down the stairs. Elevator access is available for anyone with special needs/requirements. i.e. – wheelchairs.
  13. You will have the opportunity to meet your guests in the lobby on the first floor after the ceremony and exit procession has ended.

Parking & Directions:

  • Parking is available at no cost to you.
  • Once you arrive at the campus, you will enter at “Entry #4, (West Road)” and proceed to “Lot #5 (on the left)” for parking.
  • Proceed to Speert Hall (1st building on the left, formerly Wayne hall) by using the walkway between Cheng Library (on your right) and Speert Hall and follow straight back to present tickets. The ballroom is in University Commons.
  • From Belleville: you can use NJ 3 West, NJ 21 North, or GSP. (35-45 min.)
  • From Jersey City: You can use GSP, NJ 3 West, or NJ 3 West & US 46 West (35-45 min.)
  • From NY: (Manhattan) NJ 4 West, NJ 208 North, or I-80 West. (Brooklyn) NJ 4 West, I-278 East, NJ 3 West. (Staten Island) I-95 North, CSP, I-95 & I-80.
